About
Alisha Bashaw
LPC, LAC, EAGALA Certified Equine Therapist
My name is Alisha Bashaw, and I hold a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Pittsburgh, PA. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) in the state of Colorado.
Life can be rough, and I work to create a space where you feel that you are not alone, no matter the circumstance. I have worked extensively in the treatment of eating disorders and addiction, and specialize in the intersection of binge eating disorder and addiction. Substance use disorders and process addictions of any kind (eating disorders, work, shopping, gambling, sex, etc...) can rob us of the present, of our desires, and leave us feeling hopeless. Developed out of self-protection, they have served us well until they don't anymore.
I will non-judgmentally meet you where you are in your journey, and together, we can explore how to work toward re-routing harmful behaviors that often lead us away from our values and desired outcomes in life in service of living a fulfilling life of purpose. Recovery is hard, and you don't have to do it alone.
I am also passionate about working with grief and loss, as loss and transitions can alter our lives drastically. The impact of grief runs deep, and learning to live with your grief can be a lifelong venture. I believe in holding space for our stories of grief and loss, and honoring the grieving process as we change with it.
I also often work with depression, anxiety, religious trauma, relationships, communication, self-worth, identity development, spirituality, LGBTQIA+ concerns, and existential dread that can get in the way of living fully in the here and now. No matter the topic, I truly enjoy walking with folks through their ups and downs. I am also an Eagala Certified Equine Therapist, and believe strongly in the healing power of horses as a mirror for our humanness and an additional way to learn about ourselves.
I believe that everyone is a living story with much to tell. I often use narrative therapy, DBT, ACT, CBT, IFS, humanistic, and existential lenses when working with clients. I am passionate about helping people live the lives they desire, holding space for mystery and wonder as each person’s journey unfolds. I work toward integrating mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health into a holistic approach. If you feel like we would be a good match, I’d love to meet you!
